Tourism and Hospitality Courses in Northeast India

Courses in Tourism and Hospitality Management have increased in number since the past few years in Northeast India, especially in Central Universities. Infact, most of them have already adopted the field of study as a major subject or as vocational studies. I will briefly write about the Degree and Courses they offered and the name of the Department below.

The list might not be in order of merit, but views are personal and based on observations./

North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong

The Department of Tourism and Hotel Management offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Tourism and Travel Management (TTM), North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong started in 2012 under School of Economics, Mangement and Information Sciences (SEMIS). The programme was previously called Masters in Travel and Tourism Management (MTTM), and I earned my MTTM degree in 2021.

The Department is headed by Prof.Saurabh Kumar Dixit, a renowned tourism and hospitality academician who specialises in Food or Gastronomy Tourism.
